For most passenger cars, we recommend a carport at least 5.2 metres long and 3.5 metres wide. This ensures easy parking and that you stay dry when getting in and out. Our standard building kits for carports therefore have the following dimensions:

The height of the carport should be at least 2.2 metres so that most passenger cars can fit under it. In terms of permits, there are also rules attached to the dimensions of a carport. You often don't need a permit if your carport is smaller than 30 square metres and no higher than 3 metres. Whether your permit or no permit needed also depends on the location of the carport.
