Solar carport between two garages in Houten

In April 2024, Shift to Solar realised a smart and shared solar carport in Houten. The steel structure was built between two existing garages and provides roofing for two parking spaces. An efficient solution where neighbours invest in sustainable energy together. Shared energy generation, double impact The carport is equipped with 18 solar panels, distributed over both houses. This arrangement is expected to generate 6,642 kWh of solar power annually. This saves about 2.66 tonnes of CO₂ per year - comparable to 106 trees or 13,854 kilometres of driving a petrol car. Compact, sustainable and perfectly integrated This custom-made carport shows how even smaller locations can contribute to the energy transition. By making use of the space between two garages, a sustainable solution was created without additional land requirements. Advantages of this project ✔ Smart shared use of solar energy✔ Ideal for narrow or in-between spaces✔ High yield on limited area✔ Saving on energy costs and CO₂ emissions Investing in solar together with your neighbours? Get inspired and discover how to take smart steps towards sustainability together.

Sturdy and durable carport at cleaning company Nivo in Leeuwarden

In collaboration with Veldman Techniek, we built a sturdy and durable solar carport at Nivo in Leeuwarden. The structure is made of galvanised steel and has a free overhang of no less than 20.5 metres. On top of the carport are 54 solar panels (420 Wp per panel), providing an expected annual production of 19,278 kWh. With this energy, Nivo not only meets part of its own power needs, but also actively contributes to a greener future. Sustainable and practical solution The carport provides space for eight parking spaces, one of which is equipped with a charging station for electric vehicles. In this way, functionality and sustainability are perfectly combined. Environmental gains With this installation, Nivo saves 7.7 tonnes of CO₂ annually. That amounts to: Benefits of this project ✔ Solid construction - galvanised steel with a free overhang of 20.5 metres✔ Sustainable energy generation - 54 solar panels (420 Wp) for an expected production of 19.278 kWh✔ Practical use - eight covered parking spaces, including one with charging station for electric vehicles✔ Significant CO₂ savings - 7.7 tonnes of CO₂ per year, comparable to 385 trees or 42,800 km of driving a petrol car Curious about what a solar carport could mean for your project? Three wooden solar carports in Wijthmen

In early 2025, we completed a renewable energy project in Wijthmen (Overijssel) for two residents of a courtyard with a shared parking space. This involved the installation of three wooden solar carports, which together cover six parking spaces. Sustainable energy solution The carports are equipped with 45 solar panels, which the residents use to generate their own electricity. To make optimal use of this energy, both households use a SolarEdge home battery (9.2 kWh). This allows them to store some of the generated energy for later use. In addition, one of the residents has a SolarEdge EV charger, so the solar power can be used directly for charging an electric car. Sustainable impact This installation provides an expected annual production of 17,617.5 kWh, contributing to a substantial carbon reduction. The emissions saved are estimated at 7.05 tonnes of CO₂ per year. For comparison: Advantages of this project ✔ Wooden construction - fits into the green surroundings of the courtyard✔ Own energy storage - thanks to a home battery optimal use of solar energy✔ Ready for e-mobility - with an integrated EV charger for direct charging of an electric car✔ CO₂ savings - contributes to the energy transition and reduces emissions Curious what a solar carport can mean for your project? Mobile steel carport for Ministry of Defence Naval Base Den Helder

In January 2025, in collaboration with metalworking company Nijenkamp, we realised a mobile steel carport at the Defence site Marinehaven in Den Helder. Thanks to its flexible design, no permit is needed, making this solution immediately applicable. Flexible and sustainable energy solution The solar carport is equipped with four heavy-duty castors, making it easy to move. The roof is finished with trapezoidal profiles, which ensure a waterproof construction and protection against weather conditions. The 9 integrated 440 Wp solar panels generate renewable energy, which is used to produce hydrogen. Sustainable impact Thanks to this installation, 1.35 tonnes of CO₂ will be saved annually. This is equivalent to: 3,366 kWh expected annual energy production, contributing to the sustainability of Defence. Advantages of this project: ✔ Mobile construction - easily movable, no permit required✔ Weatherproof finish - sheet piling profiles provide protection✔ Sustainable energy generation - supports hydrogen production✔ CO₂ savings - contributes to the energy transition Curious about what a solar carport could mean for your project? Solar carport for apartment complex in Strijen

Shift to Solar has realised a sustainable solution for a site where flats are being built. Here, a custom-made solar carport was installed, suitable for 7 parking spaces. The carport, with a width of almost 20 metres, accommodates 51 420 Wp glass-glass solar panels, which are expected to generate 19.86 MWh of energy annually. This will contribute to saving 9.94 tonnes of CO₂, equivalent to planting 456 trees annually. Smart energy solution for limited roof space The carport is made of powder-coated steel in RAL 1035 Gloss colour and was installed on a foundation prepared by the contractor, P.&G. Hooghwerff, was prepared. This added extra capacity to the PV system, an ideal solution for locations where roof space is in short supply. Thanks to this installation, Shift to Solar is contributing to making the apartment complex more sustainable and meeting CO₂ reduction targets.
